RANDOM MEETINGS TEASER

PRéSENTATION

Random Meetings is the first video-choreographic piece created by OKUS LAB in 2010.

It is the meeting of four characters… A confrontation in a world that floats between reality and dream.
And it is also thanks to the alchemy that will be erected between the characters, that the apprentice manipulator will end up facing loneliness. Solitude, which also represents a certain note of liberation.
During the thirty minutes journey of this choreographic fresco amplified by the acting and mime of these powerful characters, the spectator will be plunged into various universes raised by these different scenic atmospheres brought by the music, the sound ambiances, and the videos, to end, perhaps, on a personal questioning.
This piece aims to provoke the questioning of the “experience” and also the outcome of the personal and social experience of our identity.

“Rencontres Hasardeuses”, analysis from the book by Patrice Pavis. Analysis of DAVID OTTEN, 2011

” … Aiming for diversity and the reworking of genres and media with the aim of producing hybrid works that leave a VISUAL and SENSORY IMPRINT.”
“In the end, Rencontres Hasardeuses is, without a doubt, a performance placed under the sign of mixity: mixity of music, costumes, media, postures or gestures, all of which nevertheless combine perfectly in the service of a desire for renewal…”
“DUALITY OF WORLDS ATTEMPTED OF SURREALISM, in a universe BETWEEN HIP HOP DANCE and CONTEMPORARY DANCE, this for the benefit of the violent passion of chance.”

In the end, this show is an open-air laboratory in which the protagonists can

DEVELOP THEIR CHOREOGRAPHIC IDENTITY AND THEIR PHANTASMAGORICAL CHARACTER.

The myth of the mad scientist is born.

From a choreographic point of view, the use of improvisation, the focus of the gaze in the movement and the search for one’s identity are THE PREMISES TO THE MAGIC FORMULA “OKUS FOKUS” which will be born thereafter.

From a videographic point of view, Manu Di Martino uses it with the following constraint: the video is projected as the only source of light and serves to split reality and the dancers, an opening on an imaginary, surreal and schizophrenic window. The movements of the video and the dancers are perfectly synchronized. This is the first experience of HYBRIDATION and synergies between DANCE, VIDEO-MAPPING and LIGHT DESIGN. THE “OKUS FANTASMA” FORMULA IS BORN.
